CD30 is expressed by activated T and B lymphocytes. CD30 activation through interaction with its ligands, such as CD30L (CD153) and several TNF receptor-associated factors (TRAF), leads to the activation of NF-κB signalling pathway. Studies have reported a role of CD30 in prevention of autoimmunity by inhibiting the proliferative potential of antigen-specific CD4 T lymphocytes through sequestration of its ligand CD30L.
