The OKT11 monoclonal antibody specifically recognizes the human CD2 molecule, a cell surface receptor of approximately 50 kDa. CD2 is expressed on T lymphocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, thymic B cell subsets, and some antigen-presenting cells. It plays a crucial role in cell adhesion by interacting with ligands such as CD58 (LFA-3) and CD48, facilitating T-cell activation and signaling. Through these interactions, CD2 enhances immune synapse formation and contributes to T-cell proliferation and function.
