Target CD56, also known as NCAM1 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule 1), is a membrane-bound glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily involved in homophilic cell-cell adhesion. It is predominantly expressed on natural killer (NK) cells, subsets of T cells, and neural tissues. CD56/NCAM1 plays critical roles in synaptic plasticity, neurodevelopment, and immune surveillance, and is frequently used as a diagnostic marker in neuroendocrine tumors and NK/T-cell lymphomas.
