Drosophila melanogaster

Drosophila melanogaster(the so-called fruit fly) has been a popular model organism in scientific research for over a century, especially in genetics and developmental biology. Nowadays, it has become a useful model to study the transmission of diseases by insect vectors and to investigate the effects of insecticides on insects metabolism.
